** The things some people do! **

Hmmm, Onward Christian Soldiers...Into battle...with the hills ahead??   This is leaving Castrojeriz

'scusa me...what does that sign say...12% grade...is it too late to turn back?

But then there are those views from the top!  That is in fact Castrojeriz in the distance!

You make the most unusual acquaintances along the way.  Here we have a transplant donor, moi, a heart transplant recipient, Enzo, and a nurse, Rosalie!  Perfect combo for a climb!  Enzo is 2 years post surgery and the poster child for what can be done!!  The sweetest man!!

All of this joy together doesn't preclude some really strange pilgrim rituals including climbing into ICE cold water...feet loved it...calves and thighs...not so much...look at Rosealie's face!!

More strange pilgrim rituals!  Inhale something at the end of a long breathless climb...even if it's a cigarette!

Right...now back down!  This is the Meseta after all !

This is the type of coffee cup that needs to be made mandatory!

Yeah almost worth walking 9km before we got to eat...almost!!

The only other time I saw the dark blue poppy, in a garden this time.

This needs sound...of frogs and bees!

Ok...so the rain in Spain does in fact fall mainly on these plains!! Luckily not on me this day!
